Signature of a possible second period in the long-term RXTE data of PSR B1509-58
Abstract
The Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) has been monitoring PSR B1509-58 constantly since its launch. In an accumulated data set over a time span of 7 years, beside the radio pulsar period at about 0.151 second, we found a possible period at about 0.065 second with a H-test statistic value of 33.7. The random probability is 0.006 when the number of total 2000 trials is taken into account. We report details of the timing analysis to discuss the reality of this period.
